Makita Coffee Maker: Gorgeous or Gimmick?

The Makita Coffee Maker is not new, but it’s seen a bit of a resurgence recently, quite possibly as a result of frantic last-minute Christmas shopping.

Here’s the techy spec:

  • It works with ground coffee or 60mm ESE coffee pods, so you have a choice
  • It comes with a “carry handle for easy transport”.
  • The custom-made mug is designed to fit into the machine without leaving a gap to stop any mud, sawdust or other construction site dirt into your coffee
  • That’s about it, it makes coffee as well, apparently.

Here’s the official Makita Cordless Coffee Maker DCM501 YouTube video:

And another. This is the first video we’ve seen featuring a coffee maker and a chainsaw in it.

And one more, just for luck:

The verdict? If you’re a coffee snob, well, you probably wouldn’t be looking for one of these anyway. But if you need to make a mediocre coffee where there’s no power or coffee supply, get one.
