The New Jura ENA 4 Coffee Machine: Small, elegant and efficient

The new Jura ENA 4 is just one of a whole raft of new products that Jura has added to their range.

It’s aimed at those working from home, and it’s small, elegant and efficient, and is taking a deliberate poke at the capsule coffee machine market.

What do you get when you buy the Jura ENA 4?

The Jura ENA 4 is not designed to be an all-singing and dancing coffee machine, it’s designed to make black coffees, and make them well.

It comes with the Jura Aroma G3 grinder which is apparently twice as fast as the old one: no more ground coffee hanging around before brewing. (see below for more) You get the option of choosing any one of three strengths when you’re selecting your drink.

It also has a fairly advanced Jura Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.®) which is designed to optimise extraction time for short speciality drinks, and gives maximum flexibility when you program the cup size. A techy way of saying it makes the most out of every different drink.

Jura ENA 4 colours

The new Jura coffee machine is available in any colour, as long as it’s black or white. Let’s face it; it’s a basic machine but they’ve done a good job of it, aesthetically. And the geometric crystal effect water tank on the side looks pretty good too.

It’ll look amazing in your kitchen.

The Jura ENA 4 Technical Features explained

This machine comes with a bunch of features. But what do they actually mean?

The AromaG3 Grinder

Not rocket science, but the grind is adjustable, based on what drink you’re producing. But the biggest difference here is that by optimising the grinding angles, you get the perfect grind in only half the usual grinding time.

Jura Intelligent Water System (I.W.S.)

Basically a clever water filter that tells the machine when it’s been changed. No programming needed. It also eliminates the need for descaling.

Jura Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.®)

The Pulse Extraction Process means that when preparing very short drinks like espresso or ristretto, the water pulses through the coffee in short bursts, rather than flowing consistently. Maximum extraction and flavour!

J.O.E.® (JURA Operating Experience)

Make your coffee from your phone or watch, and customise your favourite drink. Fancy.

What is the Jura ENA 4 Price?

The price of the Jura ENA 4 is in the region of £750.00, depending on the distributor. Look beyond the price though, and ask what support and after-sales service they offer.

Our Summary:

If you want a great quality machine with top-quality black coffees only, it’s a great option. Particularly if you’re making the upgrade from a pod or capsule coffee machine. But if you want a machine to make milk-based drinks, you’ll need to look at a machine higher up in their range, and be prepared to spend a bit more.
