Going Solo with a new Cold Brew “Coffee Squash”

London-based Solo Coffee have launched a Cold Brew concentrate, designed to be a high-quality and easy to use base ingredient for cocktails and other drinks. And it looks ace.

The Solo Cold Brew Concentrate is the creation of Alex Foss Sims and Theo Garcia, the founders of Solo Coffee, and it’s designed to speed up service and reduce waste when making Espresso Martinis when compared with brewing a hot espresso shot and cooling it down in a shaker.

An espresso strength cold brew coffee

It’s a long-life, ambient-stable product and it comes in 1 Litre packs. It will last 12 months unopened, and once opened will need to be used within 7 days. It’s packed in Tetra Paks which we’re not that impressed by – development area here Solo folks?

Theo Garcia says “Alex and I decided to use our expertise to solve a growing issue in the hospitality industry and we’re really excited to now be offering a solution. We wouldn’t sell a concentrate unless we were truly proud of it…”

What is it?

So what exactly is it? “It’s basically really strong coffee. We like to think of it as coffee squash. It has the convenience of instant coffee, but with café standard quality. Endless possibilities to how this product can be used.”

It’s got plenty of caffeine. It’s got 106 mg per double shot (50ml) compared with 77.4 mg in a standard Red Bull. If Red Bull gives you wings, then Solo gives you springs.

Have a look for yourself. We’re sold on Solo.
