London’s Best Independent Coffee Shops (only near the Underground Stations)

London’s Best Independent Coffee Shops: Finally, someone has gone and done all the hard work that we’ve always wondered. Where, in this wonderful city, should you get your coffee?

[Sassy_Social_Share]

London-based Officeology have published these rather wonderful maps of the London Underground, showing all the coffee shops worth visiting within half a mile, or 10 minutes walk, from each underground station. They’ve also checked their prices.

As a nice touch, they’ve only looked at the independent coffee shops, otherwise we might have had a rather Costawashed map. Here we go.

London’s Best-rated Independent Coffee Shops

Officeology gives a special mention to Second Shot Coffee, Pangea Cafe, De Vine, Guillam Coffee House, Dock Coffee and The Coffee House, all for their very highly-rated coffee.

Here’s the full map. Drink it in.

Looking for the Cheapest Independent Coffee Shops in London?

They’ve covered this off too. The Northern Line, for good or for bad, is for the skinflints among us. The average latte is just £2.70, and the cheapest coffee is from Coffee Pound, near Golders Green station where you can buy a latte for a ridiculous £1. Who said London was expensive?

Here’s the map of the cheapest (but best) independent coffee shops in London:

The Most Expensive Underground Line in London for Coffee

Hang on to your wallets, folks. And we’re not talking about regular pick-pockets, we’re talking about expensive coffees.

The Circle Line is the most expensive, although interestingly, on average they’re still cheaper than the Costalots and Fourbucks that pop up everywhere. The average price here is £3.11, with the most expensive being De Vine coffee who charge a hectic £4.90 per latte.

Here’s the map:

How did Officeology do this analysis?

OK, it’s not exactly a scientific analysis, but nevertheless it was pretty methodical:

“we first scraped the information of 3263 individual coffee shops to find the highest-rated shops within a ½ a mile radius on every tube stop. All coffee shop ratings were taken from Google reviews. We then collated the cost of each coffee shop’s largest latte.”

“Only coffee shops whose menus were available online were included in our study. Once we had compiled all of the data, we were then able to work out which lines were the most expensive and the cheapest when it came to purchasing a latte from only the highest-rated coffee shops by each station on the line.”

Hats off to you guys, and thanks for doing the research we’ve always needed!
