SS Lam X Solo Coffee Socks: Get yours free!

“SS Lam was founded by Sophie Lam in 2020. What started as a hobby quickly blew up into sellout demand. SS Lam hand dyes socks from their studio in Peckham using strictly natural dyes, and strictly neutral tones. Bone, Oatmeal, Matcha, and Earth are the names of the colours they offer. It seemed almost mad that there wasn’t a pair called Coffee. So we got speaking, and a few weeks later, I have SS Lam X Solo Coffee dyed socks on my feet.”

From Thursday the 23rd, if you place any order with Solo Coffee you get a pair free – only for the first 100 orders though!

A shipping container shortage has resulted in a break bulk coffee shipping trial

A break-bulk ship called the Eagle is currently splooshing its way across the Atlantic with a hold full of coffee.

In the hold is a load of coffee bags stacked up, rather than in the usual shipping containers.

“At the point when we were seeing shipments getting delayed, customers really struggling to get their supplies in time and getting access to coffee, that’s when we started to look at it,” Manish Dhawan, senior vice president for coffee at trading company Olam Food Ingredients, which chartered Eagle, said in an interview. “If you speak to some of the older traders, it was the late 80s, or perhaps the early 90s, when they last did it, so this is really a new frontier kind of thing for us as well.”

Hmmmmm. A baffling and unnecessarily complicated vending machine on Kickstarter

It claims to be the “UK’s first robotic coffee machine that will deliver your coffee on-demand to a locker with a simple click and collect from your mobile”.

It’s a coffee machine with locker doors.

Maybe we’ve missed the point, but why not just a standard vending machine? Why complicate it more than it needs to be? If anyone understands why please let us know.

See it on Kickstarter here.
