Costa Coffee Russia Boycott: The Coca-Cola Company (owners of Costa Coffee) Suspends its Business in Russia, but Costa keeps going

There have been a lot of calls for a Costa Coffee Russia Boycott, and on the 8th of March 2022 the Coca-Cola Company (who own Costa Coffee) have announced that they are suspending their operations in Russia.

However, it appears that Costa Coffee are still operating in Russia.

Is Costa Coffee still trading in Russia?*

As far as we can tell, Costa Coffee are not currently trading in Russia, based on the following:

On the 8th of March, 2022 Coca-Cola, who own Costa Coffee, released the following statement:

“ATLANTA, March 8, 2022 – The Coca-Cola Company announced today that it is suspending its business in Russia.  

Our hearts are with the people who are enduring unconscionable effects from these tragic events in Ukraine.  

We will continue to monitor and assess the situation as circumstances evolve.”

It appears that although Coca Cola have suspended operations in Russia, Costa Coffee stores continue to operate in Russia, based on social media posts by Costa Coffee Russia, as below:

The Facebook post, dated the 10th of March, translates as follows:

Every day we prepare for you drinks with a huge love

A cup of aromatic coffee from our baristas will certainly cheer up and cheer up.

Americano, cappuccino, latte, cocoa, tea, and maybe smoothies or milkshake from our spring menu – share in comments, what is your favorite in Costa Coffee?

Unsurprisingly, there’s no mention of the Ukraine conflict or the Costa Coffee Russia Boycott.

What about Starbucks and McDonald’s?

McDonald’s and Starbucks have both shut down operations in Russia as well.
