Halo Coffee, “The world’s best coffees, in a way that’s best for the world” are expanding into Europe

Halo Coffee have been described by GQ as “The eco coffee pods giving George Clooney nightmares” and Fast Company have said “There are challenger brands and then there is Halo’s downright provocation”.

And following a successful Seedr fundraising campaign, they’re expanding into Europe as well.

Who is Halo Coffee?

Halo Coffee is a UK start-up who promise to deliver “the World’s Best Coffees, In a Way That’s Best For The World”.  That’s a big promise!

They created the world’s first 100% compostable paper coffee capsule.  With roughly 30 billion plastic and aluminium coffee capsules in our oceans and landfill, Halo wanted to create something better.

Nils Leonard, Co-founder of Halo says “The brands that consumers want now, care about craft, about beauty, about perfection.  But the brands that consumers truly love, care about all of these things without forsaking the world around them.”

They have created the world’s first Nespresso compatible, 100% compostable paper capsule made from sugar can and paper pulp.  The capsules can be disposed of in food waste “peely bins” or compost bins where they don’t need to be taken apart or broken apart in specially-designed waste management plants.

Check out these videos from Halo Coffee which explain more about them:

And here’s a pretty graphic video of the products in the soil, actually breaking down:

The Halo is spinning into Germany

A recent Seedrs campaign has raised almost £350,000 of a £300,00 target.  They plan to use the funds to drive brand awareness and sales in Germany.  Their funding campaign promised “A unique opportunity to invest in a truly sustainable brand with a positive impact on the planet that has demonstrated its “raison d’être” with its “flower bed compatible” coffee capsule”.

We can’t resist putting some product pictures in as well

Their photography, with all its’ visual flavour connotations is stunning.  Check it out in all its beauty:
