Baristas at Work “He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite Latte”

Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six foot four and full of muscle
I said, “Do you speak-a my language?”
He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite Latte

We’re going to have to change the lyrics to this legendary song by Men at Work.

An Australian barista has caused a right rumpus by sharing a tutorial for the Vegemite Latte on TikTok.

It has – as these things do – gone viral.

The Barista (and we use the term loosely in this instance) goes by the name Golden Brown Coffee on TikTok.

He says that the “heat from the espresso actually brings out a lot of the sweetness from the sugars in the Vegemite”.

When the steamed milk is added, it creates “this beautiful mix of savoury and sweet”.

If this was a real thing – and it seems a lot of people are making it in all earnestness – we’d give it a skip. But if you do, you’ll probably need to drink this Mint Mocha to sort out the Vegemite Coffee breath.

Want to make it yourself?

The Vegemite Latte Recipe

Serves 1, ready in about 2 minutes.

Love it or hate it?

Is the Vegemite Latte real?

The fans are divided, and no one seems to know if it’s real or not.

Here’s a selection of comments:

“It’s so good just like salted caramel.”

“This is a childhood favourite of mine”

“I can’t believe nobody knew about this!”

“I haven’t had a Vegemite coffee in ages!”

Some are on the fence:

“I’m Aussie and I’m even confused if I’m being trolled. From reading the comments I don’t think this is a joke… but what?”
