Starbucks Strawberry & Vanilla Oat Latte “Tastes Like Medicine” Apparently

We wrote recently about the new Starbucks Oat Latte Platform and the welcome news that they’re dropping their dairy-alternative “vegan tax”.

We’ve also written about the Coffee Trends for 2022, which includes adding healthy ingredients to coffee which is what Starbucks have done.

So it all seemed like a winning combo.

Not everyone’s happy though, and some of their customers have described the new Starbucks Strawberry & Vanilla Oat Latte as tasting of medicine.

Starbucks took to Twitter to promote their new drinks, and not everyone was that impressed.

Sit tight… the less than complimentary feedback went like this:

“It was really awful! It tastes like Imodium moments !!! Really chalky and aroma of artificial medicine.”

“The strawberry tasted so chemical I was so disappointed.”

“I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t a fan of this… it tasted a bit like strawberry medicine.”

As usual though, the critics often shout the loudest. Others said the the drink was “absolutely perfect”, another one said it “Is really very good”.

Jada Jones of MyLondon wasn’t exactly complimentary either:

“As an idea it was weird to me before I even tried it. And when I tasted it, I could only think about how odd it tastes.

It tastes like a warm strawberry milkshake with a shot of coffee in which I just found really strange.

If you’re trying to get into coffee and find yourself to be a big fan of strawberry flavours then this might be the one for you.

It’s not necessarily bad, but is it good?

We’re also mildly amused by the appearance of the Starbucks Strawberry & Vanilla Oat Latte:

What they promised vs. what you got

So, there it is. Despite what everyone thinks, we do take a keen interest in Starbucks, not necessarily because we’re in love with their coffee (we’re not, but nor is it the worst coffee you can buy), but because they’re the world’s biggest and most successful coffee chain. There’s something to be said about that.
